The Wisdom of Elephants (Stippling Elephant)
Ink Stippling (dotting) on Paper
Framed in Black Frame on Black Mount-board
2021
14.8cm x 21cm (unframed)
This artwork is created out of thousands of tiny fine liner dots in a technique called stippling, which took over 200 hours to complete. This artwork was one of my earlier experiments in the stippling technique and therefore holds a big place in my heart. Elephants have always been one of my favourite animals, and the utilisation of the stippling technique allows the beautiful calm and all-knowing emotions I have always associated with elephants to shine through. It is difficult to believe when looking into an elephant’s eyes, that they do not already know and understand the secrets of this world. Sadly, African elephants, like the one in this artwork are now classified as critically endangered thus making it important to appreciate these animals and the natural beauty they bring to our world.
